Affectionately known, as “Burger Boy”, Marshall Hamburger (yes that’s his real name) is the winner of the 2025 Australian Idol series.
Australia has chosen its newest Idol in the form of 19-year-old Marshall Hamburger. The retro-pop talent from Queensland took home the 2025 Australian Idol crown in a high-energy Grand Finale on Seven and 7plus, drawing 1.2 million viewer votes and commanding national attention on social and streaming platforms alike.
Visibly stunned by the announcement, Marshall said: “Australia, thank you so much! You are going to hear a lot from me in the future. I’m going to be out there.”
From piano prodigy to commercial powerhouse. From his first audition, Marshall’s musical instincts stood out.
Judge Kyle Sandilands called him “a seasoned genius musician,” while Amy Shark said he “morphed into a superstar” from the moment he touched the keys.
His knack for reviving ’80s hits in a Gen Z context gives brands a new sound to watch, and a fresh face with authentic appeal for campaigns targeting younger audiences.
Born on the Sunshine Coast, Marshall Hamburgers first few years were actually spent in India. His parents Gavin & Kellie would work there sometimes as professional musicians, and so at the ripe old age of 8 months, He was off on his first overseas adventure.
To say he was surrounded by music from an early age would be an understatement. With two professional muso’s as parents (who also run a music school), its pretty much inescapable – but also wonderful. He would see so many people come in from different walks of life to perform in their own unique way, and I would think: ‘That looks so cool. I want to be them one day.’
“You are just so mesmerising … That was the best performance I’ve seen,” Shark said.

“I simply love playing with my band. We have so much fun (whether its performing or even just rehearsing) and I’m often blown away by their musicianship. Its an absolute blessing that I get to do this with these special people, most of whom have come through my parents’ music school and who I’ve known since I was a kid”
There is nothing quite like playing in a BIG band. We have all the usual sections, such as drums, bass, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, and of course I play keys – but we also have a 3 piece horn section, and 3 other singers. It sounds huge, and I love it !
